Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai is the Project Director of Chandrayaan-1and 2 -the Indian Satellite missions to the moon.Born on 2 July, 1958, he is the first Engineer from the remote village Kothawady in Coimbatore district
of Tamil Nadu. He obtained his Masters Degree in Engineering from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore and joined ISRO in 1982.Prior to the present appointment, Annadurai was in Charge of India`s National Communication satellite (INSAT) missions as the Mission Director. He has also served as the Associate Project director, for GSAT-EDUSAT. He was the member secretary of the task team that prepared Chandrayaan-1 project report. As a Project Director, he designed and developed the project to carry instrumentation from ISRO and from NASA ,ESA and Bulgaria to accomplish simultaneous chemical, mineralogical, resource and topographic mapping of the entire lunar surface at a high spatial and
spectral resolutions. He paved the way for the future of Indian planetary missions and set an example for the international cooperation bringing the reputed international organizations like NASA,ESA,JAXA to work
under the leadership of ISRO. He is the author of 60 research papers in his specialization and winner of several National and International awards.Even as he takes stock of the orbital degrees of Chandrayaan-1, he begins his day with the Bhagavad Gita. “For the past 34 years, it is my practice to start the day reading two pages of the Gita.
